Will You Stop Me?

Will you stop me,
with all of your bluster
and intimidation,
with your weapons
of shame and humiliation
and your words
seeking nothing but
the degradation
of my soul and my heart
and all that I am,
will you stop me,
can you stop me,
when my words rush forth
like the torrents that surge
from a crumbling dam,
overtaking all
with the force and subtlety
of a battering ram,
will you stand against these floods
and hope to remain dry?
Please try.

Author: J. Anton Davis

Hi, my name is Jacob Anton (ANN-tin) Davis. I am a husband, father, attorney, and writer. I have written poetry and fiction as a hobby for the past 20 years, but I launched J. Anton Poetry in 2019 to share my writing publicly. The poems of mine on this site largely describe my thoughts about the deeper connections and meaning in our everyday lives.
