Innocent Beauty

Should a flower
be condemned
for its beauty?

While its delicate petals
may wrest admirers
from the passing butterfly,
could the wandering insect
ever rightly accuse
the flower of vanity?

Experience teaches
that it is often
in the moments
of greatest self-forgetfulness,
not least,
that a person
is most captivating.
